Grant Objectives

CHAA exists to support the development, sustainability, and growth of youth sports programs
that align with our mission to expand access, advance equity, and strengthen community through
athletics in Camden, NJ. These guidelines provide a consistent, transparent framework for
evaluating all grant requests.

Our funding supports initiatives that:

  • Provide access to organized sports for youth ages 4–17
  • Promote physical activity, teamwork, and leadership
  • Enhance existing sports programs or launch new ones
  • Create safe, inclusive spaces for youth recreation
  • Foster community involvement and mentorship

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for CHAA funding, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Primary Service Area: Operate within the City of Camden, serving Camden youth under age 18.
  • Organizational Type:
    • A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in good standing with the IRS and State of New Jersey
  • Mission Alignment: Demonstrate a commitment to:
    • Expanding access to youth athletics
    • Reducing financial, geographic, or structural barriers to participation
    • Supporting holistic youth development through sport

The following are not eligible:

  • Individuals (including families, athletes, or coaches applying in a personal capacity)
  • For-profit sports organizations or private clubs

Note: CHAA funding is not available for individual scholarships or travel teams outside of Camden.

Our Grant Application Process for Sports Programs aims to ensure that every child in Camden has access to quality athletic experiences, regardless of financial circumstances.

How To Apply

1. Review Eligibility – Make sure your program aligns with our grant objectives.
2. Prepare Materials – Gather your program description, budget, and impact goals.
3. Complete the Application Form – Fill out all required fields honestly and thoroughly.
4. Submit – Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We’ll reach out within 2–4 weeks.
