About Us

Our Mission

The Camden Health & Athletic Association (CHAA) enhances access to quality youth sports and wellness programs in Camden by partnering with community-based organizations and public-private partners to establish a sustainable, inclusive, and equitable youth sports framework.

Our Vision

CHAA envisions a community where every child, regardless of background, has access to safe, well-equipped sports facilities, high-quality coaching, and holistic health programs. Through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts, CHAA aims to build a sustainable and inclusive youth sports ecosystem that fosters physical, mental, and social well-being.

Our History

The Camden Health & Athletic Association (CHAA) was established in 2016 with over $1 million in support from The Cooper Foundation, the Norcross Foundation, and AmeriHealth New Jersey. CHAA was created to expand access to youth sports citywide, promote healthy lifestyles, and provide safe, structured opportunities for Camden youth to thrive.
Working in collaboration with schools, local leagues, nonprofits, and community leaders, CHAA quickly became a trusted partner in strengthening neighborhoods through sports. Its early programs served hundreds of young athletes across Camden, building a foundation for teamwork, mentorship, and positive youth development.
CHAA relaunched in 2025 as an independent coordinating body for youth sports in Camden. With renewed energy and an expanded mission, CHAA now serves as Camden’s central hub for athletic programming, fostering partnerships across sectors and neighborhoods.
